Post-Processing
Surface finishing, machining operations, and secondary treatments available for investment cast parts.
As-Cast Surface Finish
Excellent As-Cast Quality
Investment casting provides superior as-cast surface finish (Ra 3.2μm / 125μin typical) compared to other casting processes. Many parts require minimal or no additional finishing.
Common Post-Processing Operations
Gate Removal & Grinding
Standard process to remove gating systems and runners from cast parts. Gate locations are ground smooth to match the part surface.
Heat Treatment
Solution annealing, aging, and stress relief treatments available for various alloys to achieve desired mechanical properties and dimensional stability.
Machining
CNC machining for critical dimensions, holes, threads, and tight tolerances. Investment casting's near-net-shape capability minimizes machining requirements.
Surface Finishing
Polishing, bead blasting, tumbling, and vibratory finishing to achieve desired cosmetic appearance and surface texture.
Coatings & Plating
Powder coating, anodizing (aluminum), electroplating, and specialized coatings for corrosion protection or aesthetic requirements.
Available Options
Quality Inspection
All parts undergo inspection to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality standards:
Dimensional Inspection
CMM measurement, calipers, and gauges to verify critical dimensions meet specifications.
Visual Inspection
Surface defects, porosity, and overall quality checked against industry standards.
